King Point Marina takes its responsibility to the environment very seriously, encouraging and promoting better environmental awareness amongst berth holders.
The Marina is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment which includes an assessment against a range of environmental criteria.
The Marina also subscribes to the aims and objectives of The Green Blue environmental program. Set up by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association, The Green Blue promotes the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by boating and watersports participants, and works towards an environmentally self-regulating boating community.
We encourage all our berth holders and visitors to share these values and suggest adopting the following policies to reduce your environmental footprint:
Please do not throw your rubbish overboard. A waste recycling system with identified bins for general waste, recyclable waste and mixed glass is available at the Marina. We kindly request that you separate out paper, card, plastic, cans and glass waste and deposit in the correctly marked bins located to the right hand side at the top of the ramp as you exit the pontoons.
A facility to dispose of hazardous wastes such as batteries, contaminated fuel, oil or fuel filters and waste oil is available on request. Do Not dispose through our general waste streams. Instead, please ask a member of the team who will assist with the disposal of such items. Oils and fuels must be in a suitable sealed storage container.
We provide shore side facilities for our guests and encourage their use over onboard facilities. The use of sea toilets is not permitted inside the Marina with a strict prohibition of sewage discharge in the Harbour. A free pump-out facility for holding tanks is available to our berth holders which can be located at the end of arm B.
Do not flush or clean bilges into the Harbour. We have spill kits to deal with any oil or fuel spillage and appropriately trained staff to manage such situations. If you have an accidental fuel or oil leak, please contact a member of the Marina team immediately to allow us the opportunity to manage a clean-up operation quickly and effectively.
